BOATS SOLD BY RON
Windrose – Rhodes Yawl 52
For over 40 years, this Rhodes masterpiece has been meticulously maintained by the same dedicated couple. They have explored New Zealand, the Pacific, and Australia’s East Coast, taking three years off work to fully enjoy their adventures. Looking for a new caretaker for Windrose, they found a passionate woodworker and permaculture enthusiast through our marketing efforts. He plans to live aboard at times, maintain her to the highest standards, and perhaps sail her across oceans. This perfect match between man and boat was especially significant to the sellers, who wanted the ideal person to continue caring for Windrose.
Whisper – 2015 Beneteau Sense 46
After several enjoyable years with this unique and easy-to-handle yacht, the two boat partners decided to pursue different boating adventures. While they were on an overseas holiday, we met a couple looking for a ‘social yacht.’ They viewed ‘Whisper’ and found it to be the perfect match. With her spacious cockpit, easy indoor outdoor flow, modern amenities, and exceptional stability, ‘Whisper’ is ideal for hosting gatherings and enjoying leisurely cruises. The new owners will soon be seen in the bays, enjoying quality time with friends and family aboard this distinctive yacht. It was a pleasure working with both the sellers and buyers, and it’s always rewarding to see everyone achieve their dreams.
Swan – 2016 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 519
After many years enjoying family times aboard “Swan” the owners found they were no longer using her enough, so they reluctantly decided to put her on the market. Through our marketing efforts, we discovered the optimum solution: a suitable boat partner willing to share both the use and maintenance. The (half-share) sellers are now happier than ever. They have someone to care for the yacht, ensuring an annual trip to the islands for all to enjoy—without the day-to-day worries. Meanwhile, the new share partners acquire a splendid yacht at half the price, conveniently moored near home. The perfect solution!
Le Grande Bleu – 2007 Jeanneau 42DS
The buyer of “Le Grande Bleu” was captivated by the yacht’s convenience of a furling main and genoa for effortless sailing, the generous contemporary interior and expansive aft master cabin. His vision for retirement was to navigate the serene Bay of Islands aboard a yacht that promised minimal upkeep and ease of handling. His search has culminated in this splendid vessel and we look forward to seeing him and his wife relishing their maritime adventures in the bays throughout the ensuing years.
Scoots – 1993 Able Apogee 50
Look at this semi-custom ocean thoroughbred! Designed by the renowned Chuck Paine and built to the highest possible standards by Able Marine, in Southwest Harbor Maine. Sailed by a lovely couple to NZ, the sellers were an absolute pleasure to deal with, and I felt privileged to be representing such a fine yacht. The sellers are now enjoying their new yacht in Montenegro.
Glazig – Amel Super Maramu (2002)
The Super Maramu has a cult-like following. And with good reason. The last of the Amels that Henri Amel was involved in designing, she is one of the most well thought out offshore cruising boats ever. This one was a credit to her lovely French owners, who had been stuck apart for two years due to covid. Having sailed from France to NZ, she was still in immaculate condition and was sold sight unseen to an Australian family who knew the Amel brand well.
Saorsa – 2002 Hallberg Rassey 53
A chance meeting at the fuel jetty introduced me to these wonderful people and their Hallberg Rassy 53. Having always been an admirer of the brand, I knew the vessel model well. When came time for a change, Covid dictated the owners leave for England, entrusting the vessel in my care to sell. During a turbulent time (covid) we found a match, with the new owner finally taking possession, then promptly taking to the sea in a figure 8 circumnavigation of NZ. The new owner is presently preparing her for more offshore adventuring, his lifelong dream.
Om – Lagoon 400 S
“If you can sell this in a timely manner, I can get that other yacht I want” These were the instructions given to me when listing this well cared for Lagoon 400. Well, the seller has his new larger Lagoon now. It’s so rewarding being a part of people’s lives in such a positive way. Seeing families and their friends out enjoying our beautiful marine playground, in a vessel I sold them, warms the heart.
Ski – Fontaine Pajot 41
Prepared by the sellers for easy life aboard. This slightly more performance-based cat had all the necessary equipment for offshore adventuring, which they had done. The new owners had a dream to sail to the islands, having been encouraged by their brother-in-law. Not from a sailing background, they quickly applied themselves and headed off on their adventure of a lifetime. Both families found how easy these Lapari’s are to sail and live on board. They hold their value well.
Musa – 2018 Jeanneau Velasco
This vessel was near new when purchased by a family wanting more time and space out on the water, in a low maintenance, late model launch. They got it in “Musa”. The Velasco 43F is a very appealing boat with distinctively proud lines and an obviously European heritage. Perfect for our often-choppy waters, she has the guts to go to sea, yet the grace and facility for a luxury cruiser. Her new owners will often be seen enjoying quality family time out in the Hauraki Gulf.
Lipso – Starfisher 35 Launch
Just a wee bit small for a growing family, this Starfisher 35 from Spain was the perfect vessel for the purchaser, who wanted a near new low maintenance vessel he could take out on his own. Both the new owner and vessel are often seen enjoying fishing or just relaxing at our gorgeous Great Barrier Island.
Miss Tennessee – Meridian 411
Talk about luxury! One of the USA company’s most popular models, with over 300 boats sold. Any family would be proud to own this lovely cruiser. She had always been maintained to the highest standard and presented extremely well. The couple who purchased her are now enjoying our Hauraki Gulf in complete and utter luxury (which is what Mrs Boating wanted)
Monkey Island – 2004 Jeanneau 49
Named as such due to the owner’s lively boys, the family had enjoyed years of cruising in the Pacific when it was time to settle on land again. A stock standard Jeanneau 49 she had held her value. She has now gone to the Tasman region in NZ to provide her new owners with a lovely cruising platform, enabling them to enjoy the pristine waters of the upper south Island.
Proxima Vida – 2005 Dufour 45 Grand Large
This owner had enjoyed sailing from Europe to NZ taking his mother on the Panama leg for a special and memorable time together. Referred by another cruiser who I had acted for, when it was time to settle on land again, he was able to leave the yacht in my care to find a new owner. The young chap who purchased her is enjoying the essence of life, living aboard and very much enjoying sailing with friends and family. Had I not encouraged him to put in a back-up offer, he would have missed this magnificent beauty!
Mystic lass – Wright 11
A pièce de resistance, the most superbly cared for vessel I have ever laid eyes on! The retiring sellers had many years of cruising our NZ coastline in this classic kauri beauty. A talented cabinetmaker, the seller had built a few special inlaid wood features on the yacht, setting her off. I’m sure it broke their heart to sell her. She sold quickly to her new owners, who recognized that purchasing a well-maintained yacht is prudent. They are now enjoying sailing the Hauraki Gulf with pride, in Mystic Lass.
